JOB SUMMARY
Supervises, coordinates and performs packing, incoming and outgoing shipments activities/process to assure timely delivery of received parts to production and completed products to customers.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The position has direct supervisory responsibilities for all Shipping, Packing, and Receiving personnel and processes.  Determines shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.  Capable of performing these duties in addition to supervising them.
  • Directly responsible and conducts all receiving operations, including unloading and sorting of deliveries in a manner that ensures all incoming shipments are accurately and promptly processed within 24 hours
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, both domestic and international, directly with customer logistics or designated logistic services and sources + schedules transportation companies and carriers that will meet both Genfare and customer requirements.
  • Assure that shipping and receiving documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading, and customs paperwork are done accurately, included with shipments per carrier and/or customer requirements, moved to the next process step in a timely manner, and stored/filed as required by records retention policies. 
  • Assure products for outgoing orders and other outbound shipments are packaged properly to maintain the quality and integrity of the product during shipping and handling so it arrives without damage. 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interviewing, making hiring recommendations; planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; instructing and training in work methods; conducting performance appraisals and making recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Compiles records of unfilled orders.
  • Posts weight and shipping charges.
  • Prepares bills of lading.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment.
  • Resolve issues regarding shipped orders.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High level oral and written communication skills for written and verbal interactions with customer, vendors, and other employees.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative work relationships with co-workers, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and to manage multiple projects/responsibilities.
  • Good problem-solving skills to identify customer or product related issues, collect data, identify potential causes. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • In Good Physical condition, needs to be able to lift up to and carry 50 lbs.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school.
Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft products include Word and Excel.
Ability to read and write in English and perform simple math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
