As a member of the Statler Hotel's Culinary Team, the Pastry Intern is responsible for:
- Working with pastry team to complete the daily and weekly prep and production for the pastry department.
- With Supervision can prepare a full variety of baked goods including rolls, breads, cakes, cookies, pastries, and various other desserts and check pars of items against the prep list.
- Assists in Creating personalized cakes utilizing multiple methods of decorating: fondant, piping techniques, artistry and sculpture
- Setting up work station
- Monitoring temperatures of all prepared foods, and record them as required
- Supporting other team members when able
- Maintain efficient time management and productivity during slow periods throughout the shift
- Cleaning work area and storing all food after each shift or when needed or directed to by supervisor
- Filling out prep lists, closing the shift while adhering to operating standards
- Maintaining a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Reporting to the Sous Chef/Manager
We are a 4 diamond hotel and our goal is to provide the highest quality experience for our guests at The Statler Hotel
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
· Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
· Ability to read and follow cooking directions
· Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
· Must be organized and self-motivated
· Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials
