This Information System Security Engineer position will be on a dynamic team responsible for engineering support, acquisition management and life cycle support of surface naval platforms for our customer in the San Diego, California area. This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active DoD secret level clearance and award of contract.
Serco supports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) including support for the design, acquisition, testing and sustainment of naval vessels. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer to deliver management, engineering, acquisition, and logistics support required to conduct RDT&E trials, system installations and maintenance, and sustainment in support of Navy vessels. Serco has been supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command for over 50 years and has been recognized by the Navy for their outstanding contributions.
In this role, you will:
- Support the Program and Project Manager in the planning, direction and success of major projects, systems development efforts, and research or technology initiatives which have great significance to NAVSEA. Programs are typically large, multi-year efforts divided into several sub-programs/tasks.
- Be responsible for supporting all aspects of a Program Information Assurance (IA) processes tailored to include minimum qualification standards, fundamental awareness and familiarity to demonstrated competency with specific experience in Cyber Security, Engineering, Test & Evaluation, (T&E) and/or Security Control Assessor (SCA) under a Certification & Accreditation (C&A) and/or Assessment & Authorization (A&A) process.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and/or include prior experience with the Defense Information Assurance & Certification Accreditation Process (DIACAP).
- Have familiarity with security policies & guidance documents to assist with the preparation and maintenance of process artifacts, traceability documents purposed for compliance with Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
- Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing up to classified information, and supervise and/or maintain the operational security posture for an information system or program.
- Collect technical data from appropriate documentation (e.g., technical manuals and internal and external reports), automated files, and other staff.
- Determine and interpret equipment characteristics data, performs necessary analysis, and transcribes to required formats.
- Assist staff in moderately technical aspects of project work.
- Acquire a working knowledge of customer databases and of the types of information stored in each file.
- Assist in the training of less experienced staff.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.
- As required, verbally present information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.
- Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelors’ Degree with 2 to 4 years of practical experience in a Cybersecurity, Engineering, T&E or A&A (formerly C&A) related field.
- An active Secret Security clearance is required.
- Worked with Information Assurance tools such as DISA Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
- CompTIA Security+ CE Certification is required.
- Experience in the operation, management and sustainment of maritime vessels.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in technical writing.
- Proficiency with MS-Office software to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Power Point.
- Travel up to 10% may be required.
