Position Overview

IDOC is looking to hire a Human Resources Representative serving as a Job Classification Analyst. This position is in a high-volume human resources office. We maintain over 10,000 job descriptions and corresponding organizational charts. If you have a strong writing background, are detail oriented, and can multitask with the ability to determine prioritization, then this position is for you. Essential Functions

  • Serves as a job classification analyst, performing professional duties for the effective implementation of personnel operations.
  • Prepares position descriptions for submission to Central Management Services (CMS) for approval.
  • Serves as a classification liaison to various human resources staff including facility human resources staff, IDOC management, and CMS as required to complete classification duties.
  • Conducts special projects for the Classification Unit.
  • Maintains electronic files for the Classification Unit.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college and one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.

Specialized Skills

  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a State of Illinois human resources office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience in a human resources office.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience composing and editing job descriptions.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of writing experience ensuring grammatical correctness.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional working experience in a high-volume human resources office (an organization with at least 3000 employees).
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience creating and maintaining organizational charts utilizing Microsoft Visio or similar software.
  • Prefers at least one (1) years of experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel, or similar software.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience communicating in oral and writ
