About the role

This intern role may either work from home in any of our listed payroll states or a hybrid schedule in our Charleston, West Virginia office. The position will report to the Manager, Engagement Center.

This is a full-time summer internship for the 2025 summer and will require someone who can work at least 40 hours per week.  Start and end dates will be based on availability and business need. Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.


Pay = $18 per hour

JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Intern, Engagement Center will be responsible for providing general or specific Information to our customers regarding claims, medical billing, or policy related questions via telephone, email or chat interactions regarding Workers' Compensation, Commercial and Personal Lines Insurance. Responsibilities can also Include documenting First Notice of Loss and First Notice of Injury from customers for commercial auto, workers' compensation, liability and property lines of business.  Provide direct guidance and assistance to customers responding to inquiries, and/or explaining processing procedures to deliver the best possible outcome.  Work is driven by multiple reporting channels such as customer portal, email, phones, and fax.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•    Provides general or specific information to customers regarding claims, medical billing or policy related questions via telephone, email or chat interactions 
•    Analyzes information received from the customer, triages facts to determine what is being requested, and determines what action is to be taken 
•    Interact with other associates across the organization to answer questions, provide support or assist in problem resolution for customers and agents. 
•    Creates certificates of insurance for policyholders 
•    Enters or updates specific claim, policy and/or customer data into computer system 
•    Researches medical bill coding issues or pharmacy related issues 
•    Provide support to customers and agents while using the Encova Edge Portal 
•    Take payments from customers or assists customers with online payment portal 
•    Receive initial claim information from customers telephonically, electronically, email, and/or fax 
•    Provide information to customers regarding the different options available for loss reporting
•    Obtain and document facts of loss information in the computer system


OTHER FUNCTIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•     Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.  
•    Preference may be given to those pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing or Communications.
•    Ability to provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers
•    Ability to multi-task
•    Must be detail-oriented
•    Experience with Microsoft Products
•    Ability to work proficiently in multiple systems
