Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Non-destructive (NDT) Trainee (or Technician) for our Etch Department to join our 2nd shift growing team. "Etch" generally refers to the process of removing material from a surface in a controlled manner using chemical or physical means. This combination of hands-on responsibilities and a strong foundation in both technical and interpersonal skills will help the Non-Destructive NDT Trainee contribute effectively to our Etch Department while growing within the role.

Salary: $21-$26/hr DOE + - $1 shift differential
2nd Shift - 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Overtime is required in this role
Responsibilities
Assisting in NDT Procedures:
- Support the execution of non-destructive testing methods under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Help prepare test parts by cleaning and prepping surfaces to ensure proper test conditions.
Data Collection and Documentation:
- Record and document test results accurately.
- Assist in maintaining logs, calibration records, and other required documentation in accordance with company standards.
Equipment Handling and Maintenance:
- Learn the proper setup, calibration, and basic maintenance of NDT equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or inconsistencies to supervisors promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with industry regulations (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
Collaboration and Continuous Learning:
- Work closely with team members in the Etch Department to ensure quality control and support ongoing projects.
- Must be able to participate in training sessions and certification courses to progressively develop technical expertise in NDT.
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework is a plus
- Strong focus on accuracy and detail, ensuring that inspection results are reliable and well-documented.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively share findings and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to follow clear instructions and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Familiarity with basic computer operations for data entry and report generation.
- Willingness to work in a team environment, supporting colleagues and learning from experienced professionals.
- Flexibility to adapt to new procedures and changes within the department.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by following established safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to participate in training programs and pursue NDT certification as part of professional development within the first year of hire.
- Basic understanding or strong interest in non-destructive testing methods and principles is preferred.
This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the employer obtaining the necessary export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
