Licensed Veterinary Technician
All Creatures Pet Hospital is actively looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our amazing team. We are seeking an organized, compassionate, and service-oriented Certified Veterinary Technician who is confident in rooming patients, assisting in surgery, able to perform dental cleanings, placing IV catheters, drawing blood and running in-house bloodwork with Idexx and Heska equipment, has experience with x-ray and proper positioning, understands the importance of client education, and is a supportive and positive team player. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. The veterinary industry is constantly advancing and growing, and All Creatures Pet Hospital encourages its staff to do the same. Essential Job Tasks:
- Assists the veterinarian during the examination of animals
- Providing restraint as needed to work safely and effectively
- Prepare and administer treatments, as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination
- Assist in prepping patients for surgery (or an aptitude to learn)
- Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques
- Ensure a comfortable and sanitary environment for all patients
- Responsible for the care of boarding and hospitalized patients
- Prepare and sanitize the surgery suite - clean and maintain holding areas
- Communicate with pet owners using a professional, compassionate, and helpful attitude, using knowledge of preventative health care recommendations to accurately answer questions and relay the doctor’s information.
Requirements:
- Certified Veterinary Technician, license must be current in Alabama
- 2-3 years of veterinary experience
- Must be able to work rotating weekends
- Can lift 50lb and can stand for long periods
- Cornerstone and Idexx experience preferred
Qualifications
Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.
Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures.
Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines.
Collect lab samples and maintain accurate patient records.
Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
