Summary:

The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping operations and ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the hospital. This role involves supervising a team of environmental service aides, developing and implementing cleaning schedules, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The supervisor plays a crucial role in promoting a positive image of the hospital through effective cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Requirements

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.  
2. Must have a valid Maine driver's license.

Experience Required:

1. A minimum of 5 or more years Environmental Services experience required. Supervisory/managerial experience required.

Cognitive Requirements:

1. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple requests.
2. Must be emotionally mature in order to handle stressful situations.
3. Must be resourceful, flexible and possess diversified communications skills.

Physical Demands:

1. Able to stand for long periods of time operating machines.
2. Able to lift, pull and push equipment; stooping and reaching required.
3. Able to lift and carry objects up to 75 lbs.
4. Able to sit at desk for long periods of time.

Environment:

1. Able to withstand periods of hot and cold temperatures under different ambient conditions.
2. Needs to anticipate some exposure to fumes from various chemicals.
3. Possible exposure to hazardous body fluids.
