Brown and Caldwell has an opportunity for an Engineering Intern to spend a summer working with our Pacific Area team to support our Honolulu office. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who wants to spend their summer gaining practical, hands-on experience outside of the classroom. Detailed Description:
Interns at Brown and Caldwell make a daily, material impact by completing support duties to advance their team’s projects and objectives. They receive professional training and the support of their team. Interns can expect to be onboarded, mentored, and developed by industry leaders to develop real-life skills and make an impact on their assigned projects. Project areas for this role may work on include:
- Wastewater Treatment
- Condition Assessment
- Fieldwork
- Water Resources
- Stormwater
- Operations and Maintenance
- Asset Management
- Permitting and Compliance
How Will You Make an Impact?
As an Engineering intern, you can expect your experience to include the following:
- Work closely with project manager and other team members to execute work involving conventional types of civil, environmental, and/or mechanical engineering principles and other related activities for water and wastewater treatment conveyance projects.
- Assisting with environmental studies, permitting, and compliance reviews.
- Assist with the preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents.
- Perform data entry, analysis, and visualization.
- Provide engineering services during construction.
- Participate in field work, as needed for projects. Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time.
- Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s quality assurance/quality control process.
Desired Skills and Experience:
To qualify for an internship, you must be enrolled in a full-time program (minimum nine credit hours per semester) seeking a degree in engineering, science, geology, or a related field. You also must be in good standing and carry an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in your core curriculum, as well as a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
What Must Our Candidate Have? (Required)
- Junior or Senior student attending university working on obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Civil/Mechanical/Environmental/Electrical or related engineering field required; graduate students may also be considered.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment
- Strong technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts
- Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability and willingness to perform field work at various sites
- Proficiency in standard software including MS Office, Outlook, Bluebeam
- Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems
Salary Range: The hourly pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Hourly $20.20 – $27.70
