Job Profile Summary
The purpose of the job is to serve in a management and leadership capacity reporting to the appropriate Academic Dean or Administrator for the responsibility of overall department operations in accordance with college policies, procedures and contractual agreement, and in support of the overall plan of the college. Employees in this job classification are responsible for the comprehensive coordination and administration of all matters relating to personnel, students, scheduling curriculum implementation, external agencies, instruction, and all financial considerations relating to the department, and accomplishes such in coordination with the colleges' mission and college wide goals and campus-based initiatives. Associate Deans provide leadership for all instructional programs which may include all or some of the courses within the associate degrees as well as vocational and technical certificates. Performs related work as directed.Ā Ā
Minimum Education:
Master of Science in Nursing degree required; Doctorate Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Minimum Experience/Training:
Requires three years teaching experience in Nursing at the postsecondary level, with a history of demonstrated leadership roles in educational settings.
History of demonstrated leadership roles in educational settings with increasing responsibility in past positions and demonstrate abilities in communication, leadership, management, teamwork, critical thinking, organizational skills, analytical skills, problem solving, conflict resolution and long range or strategic academic planning skills.
Excellent oral and written communication, financial management and budget design skills.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative research in higher education.
In-depth knowledge of Nursing.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
Must have current and active Registered Nurse License from the State of Florida with no history of suspension or having any action taken against that license.
Essential Functions:
Daily - 20%: Provides professional leadership to department, faculty, and staff in fulfilling the mission of the Nursing program and college as such relates to the short and long-range academic initiatives of the department of Nursing by: 1) Communicating with nursing colleagues nationally, state-wide, within the community and the college regarding trends, contemporary practice, regulations, and the needs of the community as related to our current students and graduates. 2) Schedule and coordinate Nursing Advisory Committee Meetings and conferring with our community partners. 3) Scheduling and coordinating campus nursing faculty meetings, college-wide nursing meetings to disseminate all pertinent information as related to the college and the discipline as well as to offer any needed training workshops as related to student support and academic excellence. 4) Enforcing Florida Board of Nursing standards and National accreditation standards to maintain high level of approval and accreditation. 5) Attend community events designated to inform members of the community about BC and the nursing department. 6) Attend Dean's Meeting 7) Be active on college committees. 8) Work in cooperation with the administrative coordinator, administrative assistants, the lab coordinator, faculty and all clinical affiliating agencies to prepare and manage department operations such as: -- Class Schedule; Faculty Assignments; Face to Face requests for clinical space; centralized computerized requests for clinical space; request for clinical space in new local potential institutions/hospitals -- Delegate duties as may be necessary to the faculty, administrative coordinator, adjuncts, skill lab coordinator commensurate with the individual post.
Daily - 20%: Works in collaboration with the administrative Dean of Nursing and in tandem with the college wide Associate Deans of Nursing, Central Campus faculty and staff to ensure that an appropriate infrastructure is in place for the nursing program and department to support effective course/program delivery which includes: -Coordinating curriculum development for traditional courses in theory, clinical, and skills lab; delivery, evaluation, and revision, ensuring compliance with academic accreditation standards for the program outcome of preparing students to work effectively as caring professionals on healthcare teams and in human service agencies. - Collaborate with Dean of Nursing regarding strategies for developing and/or improving nursing programs to meet needs of community and to maintain integrity of program. -Oversee selection, coordination, and evaluation of clinical practicum locations in consultation with the Dean, clinical agency personnel and accrediting organizations of the nursing program. -Assist in preparation and
