About the Role

As the Senior Manager Payroll Operations you will be responsible for directing the strategy and execution of the US Payroll Operations utilizing Workday, focused on customer service, compliance, and accuracy for the ~2k employees in the US.

Your Team

This position will manage a team of 4 reports, which includes 2 Sr. Administrators and 2 Payroll Analysts.


What You Will Do

  • Oversight of the Workday payroll processes across the US to ensure timely, accurate, and legally compliant payroll each pay period

  • Establish and maintain appropriate audit controls for the payroll and data entry processes

  • Promotes proactive approach to using technology to solve business needs/problems while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of systems and capabilities with our Business Partners and employees

  • Ensure compliance with and maintain current knowledge of all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws, research laws as questions/issues arise, and respond timely to all correspondence from federal, state and unemployment agencies.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

  • Strategic planning, forecasting and managing Payroll resources and process workflows to ensure transactions, inquiries, and processes are executed, resolved, and assigned to maximize efficiency and scale

  • Oversee all year-end and year-begin processes, according to most current payroll regulations

  • Initiate and manage projects that will further enhance or streamline operations

  • Create and present reporting metrics/dashboards to senior leadership that accurately depicts the transaction quality, volume, and service level agreements

  • Develop policies and service level agreements (SLA’s) that support a tiered approach to issue resolution

  • Interact closely with the HR Business community to ensure the scope, service levels, and contributions of the Service Centers are meeting and exceeding expectations and agreed upon goals

  • Coach team members to further develop their skills, commitment to excellence, and motivation towards continuous improvement.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is ideal, but not required

  • 7+ years of recent hands-on payroll supervisor experience, processing multi-site and multi-state payrolls

  • Proficient in Workday

  • Solid experience in payroll processing/management

  • Thorough knowledge of payroll and accounting principles/procedures

  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products

  • You must possess a strong collaborative approach and are able to build effective relationships with cross-functional departments to drive internal customer satisfaction and provide timely information to business owners

  • Ability to maintain data confidentiality and have a strong sense of professional integrity

  • Strong attention to details and strives for consistent accuracy

What is Nice to Have

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)

  • Payroll Taxes

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 5% domestic travel

  • Be willing to work in an office in Northridge CA or Richardson TX (Hybrid)

  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
