Role Summary
New York Life is looking for a Video and Motion Graphics Editor to help transform complex insurance, investment, and other financial information into visually engaging stories that attract, educate, and inspire consumers to take action. This person must be comfortable with all steps of the creative process from concepting through execution and making ongoing edits based on performance.
This individual must have experience concepting and pitching their ideas as well as a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to turn those ideas into storyboards, rough cuts, and high-quality video and/or complex motion graphics for numerous multi-channel marketing campaigns.
Potential responsibilities include creating short-form videos for social media, animating complex infographics, creating product explainer videos from script to rough cut to finished product, and working on a wide variety of other B2C and B2B promotional video and motion graphics projects as assigned.
Under the guidance of a manager, this individual will also interact with external vendors and production teams, including developing relationships, sending, and managing assets, and reviewing work for adherence to brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Creative Concepting: Must be comfortable concepting new creative ideas and sharing them for feedback. Must be a conceptual thinker capable of transforming basic information from a brief into multiple creative concepts that can be turned into scripts, storylines, and finished, screen-ready content.
- Campaign Development: Under the guidance of a manager, this role will partner with internal clients to understand their needs and help them achieve their business goals. Working from a brief or client meetings, be able to transform complex insurance and financial information into clear, concise stories that are visually engaging for use on social media, landing pages, advertising, and other channels.
- Creative Production: With direction from a brief., manager or internal client, this individual will refine, update, or version existing creative to account for user feedback or changing business needs. This person must be comfortable taking direction and provide suggestions to business partners and Marketing peers based on industry best practices, trends, or channel requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: With guidance from their manager, this individual must be comfortable collaborating closely with writers, designers, media, analytics, corporate communications, account managers, and compliance to ensure that creative is aligned with brand standards and business goals. This individual will work with channel owners and other content creators to make sure that messaging and visuals deliver a consistent, user-focused, branded experience.
- Measurement and Constant Improvement: This individual must have a test-and-learn mindset and be open to trying new approaches and technology. Work with their manager, they will seek out feedback from the Marketing Effectiveness team, channel owners, and other business partners to understand how our branded creative performs in market and what could help improve performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in film, design, communications, journalism, marketing, or another related field; and/or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in video and motion graphics production.
- An online portfolio that demonstrates a breadth of visual communication work.
- Demonstrated experience developing creative concepts for financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects and Premier with a thorough knowledge of media encoding, and storyboard software.
- Experienced in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Comfortable working with project management teams and software.
- Comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively.
- Must demonstrate a knowledge of UX design and design thinking or be willing to develop these skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, internal clients, and external vendors.
