Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital provides mental health and substance use disorder treatment for adolescents to senior adults.

 

The part-time (16 -20 hours per week) Pharmacy Technician will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Pharmacy Location: Located within Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital 1004 Pawlak Pkwy New Lenox, IL 60451

Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4pm and Saturdays and Sundays 7:30am to 1pm

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and dispenses medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Processes prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assists pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Delivers medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintains medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Supports medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborates with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Complies with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active Illinois state Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in outpatient setting
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software
  • Proven excellent customer service skills including effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Demonstrated ability to process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Demonstrated ability to assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
