Job Description

Under general supervision, the Occupational Therapist assesses, plans, and implements appropriate Occupational Therapy habilitative and rehabilitative treatment interventions for clients in acute-care and long-term hospitals, senior programs, mental health settings, clinical outpatient centers, home health, public school settings, and other similar institutions.

Duties Include

  • Evaluation of client needs
  • Treatment planning
  • Implementation of occupational therapy treatment
  • Documenting treatment per facility and regulatory guidelines
  • Reassessment of client progress and treatment plan
  • Client discharge planning
  • Regular communication with rehabilitation team members, clients, client family members, and other health care or community partners regarding treatment programs and services
  • May include supervising assigned staff, students, interns, and volunteers

The 2548 may perform other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications

 

For all Positions: 

License: Possession of a valid Occupational Therapy License issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT).

  • For CCS
    • 3 months of pediatric experience*

*These qualifications contain Special Conditions that may differ from the standard minimum qualifications associated with this class code.

One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). 

Basic Life Support for Professional Rescuer (BLS) Certificate Requirement/Provision
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support for Professional Rescuer (BLS) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association is required as a provision to employment for all positions. Eligibles who do not possess such a certification may participate in this examination process and be appointed to a position(s),but will be required to obtain the certificate within two (2) weeks of the hire date and maintain validity throughout the length of employment. A photocopy of the valid Basic Life Support for Professional Rescuer (BLS) Certificate must be provided to the appropriate supervisor of the appointment within the allotted time frame. Failure to demonstrate/show proof of possession of valid certification within two (2) weeks of the hire date and throughout the length of employment may result in dismissal and/or termination of employment.
