Senior Technical Writer (Active TS Clearance)

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Senior Technical Writer to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.

The Senior Technical Writer will be a part of a program that provides services for the Department of Homeland Security.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must poses an active DoD Top Secret Clearance and be able to obtain an SCI. Must be located in the DC, VA, MD area and willing to go onsite when required to Arlington VA.

Duties

• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product or topic and the documentation requirements.
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
• Complete editing of technical materials such as reports of research findings, technical articles, news releases, standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and regulations.
• Provide written analysis of cyber incidents and responses that support factual events, technical analysis and cause and help SMEs formulate recommendations.
• Support the production of interim, draft, and final reports, to include a public report and any private report. This includes but not limited to draft outlines, annotations, and report templates, and assist in pulling together all recommendations into the report format.
• Maintain version control and organization of all documents within approved repository.
• Conduct background research and analysis in support of Board activities, to include consolidation, analysis, and/or editing of technical materials such as reports of research findings, technical articles, news releases, standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and regulations.
• Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides.
• Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.
• Work with development team to write test plans and assist with capturing and tracking test results.
• Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
• 508 Experience a plus.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
• Lives locally to the DC, VA, MD area
• Must have 5 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Systems or related scientific /technical discipline
• Proven working experience in technical writing to include strategy and policy related writing
• Experience writing and working with cybersecurity related topics
• Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include SharePoint and Teams
• Self-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
