A Brief Overview
We are looking for someone to join our Clinical Practice and Education team as a Registered Nurse Clinical Educator. The RN Clinical Educator coordinates and implements staff education, orientation, and competencies in alignment with regulatory requirements, organizational strategic initiatives, and evidence-based practice across all clinical specialties within Stanford Medicine Partners. The RN Clinical Educator provides education inclusive of both clinical performance and electronic health record documentation.

The RN Clinical Educator performs a variety of tasks to improve the quality of care for all patients through education. Specific tasks include conducting clinic-based needs assessments, developing course/program curriculum, and evaluating and revising educational curriculum. In addition, the RN Clinical Educator will facilitate staff professional development, participate in applicable committees and workgroups, assist with problem-solving and critical thinking, and serve as resource for other clinical staff as a role model for CI-Care. As a clinical resource, the RN Clinical Education routinely has access and knowledge of confidential, sensitive information requiring discretion and independent judgement. To be a successful nurse educator, this individual must be is a motivate and dedicated teacher who stays current with nursing research and evidence-based practices.

What you will do

  • Coordinates and performs educational activities that promote the competency and development of Stanford Medication Partners (“SMP”) staff, including orientation, competency validation, remediation, in-service, and continuing education.
  • Assesses, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs in response to health care demands, trends, identified learning needs, organizational and clinic goals, quality improvement measures, risk management, regulatory changes, and compliancy criteria.
  • Designs educational offerings (courses, simulations, programs) using processes and methodologies that incorporate the principles of adult education and learning styles.
  • Directs the delivery of education for new employee orientation, conducts competency assessments, facilitates ongoing development, and establishes courses and programs based on annual needs assessments and educational compliancy requirements.
  • Facilitates a welcoming, supportive environment to new associates.
  • Coordinates market education opportunities to deploy system programs and initiatives, ensuring the adoption of company standards, clinical best practices, and electronic health care record documentation (i.e., new employee orientation, clinical onboarding program, etc.)
  • Collaborates with local and system leadership to determine market specific educational needs to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
  • Delivers education activities that validate, develop, maintain and enhance the knowledge and skills of clinical staff.
  • Maintains educational and competency records.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with various groups internally and externally, including clinical and support staff, other departments, clinical management, and SMP clinical educators.
  • Promotes staff competency and elevates clinical practice to deliver top decile quality care.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (may be in progress).
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred.


Experience Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of recent relevant clinical experience.
  • Clinical education experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records software.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of clinical nursing, including current trends, safety precaution policies, equipment, electronic healthcare records (EHR) management software, accrediting agency standards, and local/state/federal regulations.
  • Working understanding of adult teaching/learning theories and program assessment, program design, and evaluation processes.
  • General knowledge of the scope of practice, evidence-based practices, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Patients' Bill of Rights.
