Summary

IT Field Communications Specialist II / III | Flagstaff

As an IT Communications Network Technician at APS, you will be integral in ensuring the reliability and performance of our telecommunications and physical security systems. This role encompasses the installation, maintenance, and emergency repair of organization-owned facilities and equipment, ensuring they operate at peak efficiency.

 

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain a variety of telecommunications and physical security systems, ensuring they meet our high standards for performance and reliability.
  • Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to emergency repair situations, minimizing downtime and maintaining the integrity of our systems.
  • Testing and Inspection: Regularly test and inspect all facilities and equipment to identify potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all systems and equipment are functioning optimally, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize your in-depth knowledge of telecommunications and physical security systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals and departments to support the overall network infrastructure and security needs.

Location-Based Role:
This position requires employees to work at the (Location), with some flexibility. Flexibility will be determined with the hired employee and leadership.  

Minimum Requirements

IT Communications Network Technician II |  Flagstaff

  • Associate degree in electronic technology
  • AND two (2) years related experience and
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

IT Communications Network Technician III |  Flagstaff

  • Associates degree in electronic technology
  • AND seven (7) years related experience and
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of service offerings; customer service principles; various computer software applications, PCs, operating systems, and other computer-related technologies.
  • Ability to install chains; operate or utilize a variety of other types of snow equipment such as snowcats, snowmobiles, and snowshoes depending upon area of assignment; and work at remote locations
  • Previous work experience requiring mechanical aptitude and the safe usage of common hand tools.
  • Familiarity in Drafting or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)
  • Supervision of tower work crews to ensure safe work practices and quality installations.
  • All technicians are expected to be available for call out 24/7days a week and to be able to work out of town or outside of primary reporting area.

ALL positions requires individuals to be capable of operating 4X4 vehicles w/ standard transmissions on primitive roads where extremes of desert heat and high altitude snow and/or ice may be encountered.
