Boeing SCS is searching for an Electronics Design Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) located in Pleasanton, CA.

We are looking for you to bring your background in PCB design, and a passion for developing innovative electronic solutions. Designs typically include microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGAs & CPLDs, power conversion, and various mixed-signal sub-circuits. Additionally, you will work with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and test printed circuit boards for various applications.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) for electronic products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with internal Boeing and external customers to gather and define design requirements, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met throughout the design process.
  • Specify the stack-up, dimensions and the desired electrical characteristics of the circuit board, part selection, design tradeoff analysis, and the final assembly of the Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA).
  • Collaborate with program management to develop project schedules, estimates, and resource allocation for PCB design projects.
  • Utilize PCB design software (e.g., Siemens Xpedition) to create schematics and perform analysis of layouts.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define design requirements and specifications.
  • Perform design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve PCB designs.
  • Conduct signal integrity analysis and thermal analysis (Siemens Hyperlynx) to ensure optimal performance of PCB designs.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for PCB designs, including design files, assembly instructions, and test plans.
  • Support prototype assembly and testing, troubleshooting any issues that arise during the process.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies related to PCB design and manufacturing.
  • Support Sustaining Engineering efforts on existing Boeing PCB and system-level products.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • (Level 3) 5+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors OR 3+ years of work-related experience with a Masters OR a PhD and work-related experience
  • (Level 4) 9+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors OR 7+ years of work-related experience with a Masters OR 4+ years work-related experience with a PhD
  • Knowledge in WHDL/Verilog Hardware Description Languages
  • Experience in circuit design, schematic capture and analysis with Mentor Graphics or other PCB design software.
  • Proficient in simulation, modeling and analysis of electronic hardware
  • Experience in digital design and/or FPGA implementation
  • Knowledge with circuit design, schematic capture and analysis with Mentor Graphics or other PCB design software.
  • Working knowledge with industry standard electronic interfaces, including DDR3, DDR4, PCIe, I2C, SPI/QSPI, and JTAG.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of experience in PCB design & PCB assembly verification, debug, troubleshooting & repair.
  • Expert level in VHDL/Verilog Hardware Description Languages.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with PCIe, DDR, I2C, SPI and Quad SPI protocols and interfaces.
  • Expert level in Simulation, Modeling and Analysis of Electronic Hardware
  • Experience with FPGA design and tools.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
