Sr. Data Security Specialist

Valero is looking for a Sr. Data Security Specialist to join the IS Infrastructure team at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio, TX.   The Sr. Data Security Specialist is assist in the design, implementation and maintenance of appropriate data security for a wide variety of applications.  The primary focus of this position is to design, implement, monitor, and maintain access control for SAP systems and applications.   Responsibilities may include: 

• Maintains and validates that the SAP environment and other related applications comply with our security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participates and contributes to various security projects in SAP ECC, BW, SAP S/4 HANA and HANA Database and other Active Directory related systems.
• Helps develop, communicate, and implement data and computer security policies and procedures.
• Creates all SAP systems related roles in the Identity Management tool.
• Tests and ensures that the Identity Management tool processes are not impacted after changes.
• Researches, develops and maintains processes that automate security related tasks.
• Reviews, recommends and implements I/S security process changes for SOX compliance.
• Collaborates on  IT projects to ensure that security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle.
• Ensures security KPIs are within acceptable level by monitoring and addressing the potential issues. Generate security reports and update management as required.
• Identifies and resolves security threats to company applications.
• Participates in periodic compliance reviews and security assessments. Works with auditors and legal representatives for investigating possible security violations.
• Continuously monitors the status and effectiveness of security controls.
• Develops effective work relationships within the department and strong functional relationships at various job levels with business users, IS departments, user groups and Valero business partners.
• Helps coordinate the adoption of new business procedures resulting from system/application changes, including the development of system specifications, documentation, training, and communication plans.
• Performs analysis on and recommends security solutions that mitigate risks and meet business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• May be required to work off-hours and weekends for projects and/or support.
• Some travel may be required.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field is preferred.
• 8 + years of relevant information services experience in direct computing support activities including thorough knowledge of equipment, application, software, networking, and operating system software required.
• Experience with security design and implementation in SAP ECC, BW, SAP S/4 HANA, HANA DB and Fiori is required.
• Refinery industry or related business/IT knowledge with SAP SuccessFactors experience preferred.
• Experience with GRC products, IDM, SQL Query are preferred.
• Ability to be on-call 24/7 to support the department, as needed. 
• Able and willing to travel for projects, as needed.
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
