The Role:

 

As our Community Event Logistics Specialist, you will provide an expert voice for organizing and executing event plans that require logistical and equipment support.  Customer service is one of your core values and you understand the importance of being prompt and efficiently getting the right supplies to the right place at the right time.  You work well in a team environment, build and value strong personal relationships and find creative solutions to complex event plans.  

 

The Community Event Logistics Specialist manages and maintains NW Natural’s event equipment inventory and is responsible for loading, transport, setup, strike and post event cleaning and maintenance of event supplies and equipment.  This person ensures the safe transport and setup of equipment to meet NW Natural’s community event commitments.   The Community Event Logistics Specialist is a reliable advisor to teammates and internal stakeholders when meeting or event plans require equipment and/or logistic support.

Day to Day:

 

  • Proficient in event management and logistics, including scheduling, and safe transportation of event resources, including canopies, tables, chairs, food prep equipment, and other supplies as needed.
  • Collaborates with the NW Natural Safety team to follow safety initiatives and requirements, promoting a safe work environment that meets company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and performs regular maintenance and cleaning of department equipment, vehicles and event assets.
  • Takes ownership of NW Natural’s event logistics efforts, including prep, set-up, teardown, and clean-up and ensures we meet timelines established by the Community Relations team and/or event contact.
  • Participates in pre-event planning meetings to understand and set event goals in collaboration with the Community Relations team.
  • Is proactive and flexible; interacts professionally, and with good judgement, with a diverse group of customers and other stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and resource for Community Affairs Managers throughout NW Natural’s service territory.
  • Use of event management software platform to maintain organized and accurate event plans and notes to ensure event experience meets customer and company objectives.
  • Work with Community Events Supervisor and NW Natural Facilities department to ensure community room and meeting spaces are setup according to event plans and assist set-up efforts when needed.
  • Ability to partner with staffing agency and NW Natural HR Team to recruit and hire contract/temporary event logistics workforce while also scheduling shifts, leading team meetings, job-related training, and supervising staff execution of event plans.

Come on your first day with:

 

  • 3+ years of experience with event management, logistics and coordination. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • A team player that works best in collaboration with others, yet is able to work independently when needed. 
  • Can manage multiple projects simultaneously, think quickly and evaluate event conditions to make plan adjustments and recommendations in real time.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels including senior management, departmental, temporary workforce and external customers.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to schedule, lead, manage, coach, and train a diverse group of workers that sometimes includes company, or community, volunteers.
  • Valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license and ability to procure a DOT medcard for driving departmental
