Job Summary:
The Sr. Cloud Engineer will be responsible for implementing and operationalizing the architecture, design, and strategy of the SelectQuote infrastructure platform. The Sr. Cloud Engineer will work within the Cloud Engineering team and serve as a technical escalation point for other Cloud Engineers and Infrastructure Engineers. As a Sr. Cloud Engineer you will work with the Cloud Architects, and other engineering groups, across the SelectQuote IT Organization to implement solutions which drive value to SelectQuote and our customers. You will efficiently implement, and troubleshoot public cloud infrastructure.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Enable the Architecture team(s) by implementing cloud solutions in a repeatable, automated fashion.
- Manages infrastructure across a hybrid environment, primarily AWS.
- Independently implement highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure
- Work with development teams to deploy microservice and serverless applications.
- Leverage infrastructure as code principles and technologies to deploy immutable network and server infrastructure in an automated fashion.
- Leverage and maintain a CI/CD pipeline for on-premise and public cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation, integration and improvement.
- Provide guidance to Cloud Automation Engineers as needed
- Responsible for unresolved escalations from Cloud Automation Engineers
- Develop, recommend, and implement new or updated technologies and procedures to ensure streamlined operations.
- Sets the example and demonstrates high performance in the areas of, collaboration, teamwork, reliability, productivity, and execution.
Knowledge Skills/Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Terraform, required
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS concepts, technologies and services, required (ie. EC2, ELB, VPC, S3, EBS, etc.)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microservices and Serverless Technologies, required (ie. Docker, Kubernetes, Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, etc.)
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS Organizations, required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS IAM and permissions management, required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of REST API’s, required
- Comprehensive knowledge of DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and SSH, required
- Comprehensive knowledge of Git and version control workflows, required
- Comprehensive knowledge of virtualization technologies/platforms, required (ie. VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.)
- Comprehensive knowledge of VPN technologies, preferred (ie. SSL-VPN, IPSec)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Linux operating systems, preferred
- Ability to adapt to new, advanced concepts and technologies quickly; grow skillset rapidly
- Ability to plan, design, and lead project efforts with very minimal assistance from teammates/management
- Ability to teach and improve teammates
- Ability not only to identify gaps/weaknesses within the corresponding discipline, but also create solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot, identify problems, isolate variables at a high level
Education and Experience:
- 6+ years of experience working in an IT Infrastructure or related field, required
- 4+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer, Team lead or equivalent role.
- AWS Certified Associate Certification, required
- AWS Certified Specialty Certification, preferred
- Experience in Azure or GCP, preferred
- Experience leading deployment efforts of AWS infrastructure,
- Experience implementing the AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Experience designing and implementing on-pre
