About the role

This temporary position will manage the AmeriCorps planning grant from September 2024-July 2025. Cherry Health is seeking a highly organized and strategic Project Manager to lead a critical planning grant focused on expanding AmeriCorps services at Cherry Health. This role will manage all activities related to the planning grant, which aims to enhance workforce/career development, capacity building, and direct service initiatives to address the most pressing challenges facing our health center. The Project Manager will be responsible for designing an AmeriCorps program, developing an operational grant application, and ensuring alignment with Cherry Health's strategic goals.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in public health, social work, non-profit administration, or similar required.
  • 3-5 years experience in health care, non-profit, or related required.
  • Prior experience in AmeriCorps preferred.

Responsibilities:

Project Management:

    • Develop and execute a detailed project plan following the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model.
    • Coordinate with Cherry Health staff, external consultants, local organizations, and community members to gather data, identify pressing issues, and propose solutions.
    • Ensure timely completion of all project milestones, including the development of career paths, capacity-building initiatives, and direct service expansion.

Program Design and Development:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define the scope of new AmeriCorps services, focusing on workforce development (e.g., medical assistants, Spanish-speaking staff).
    • Explore the use of VISTA and NCCC programs to enhance capacity building and support projects such as the opening of a new housing facility
    • Develop a theory of change and logic model to guide the operational grant application.

Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Engage with AmeriCorps agency resources, the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC), and other relevant bodies to inform program design.
    • Coordinate with consultants to integrate best practices, evidence-based interventions, and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) principles into the program.

Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Develop and implement tools for data collection and analysis, ensuring that the data is high-quality and aligned with program objectives.
