About the role

GEICO is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager for our Technical Field Engineering team. This role is pivotal in overseeing a team of skilled technicians responsible for providing on-site technical support and maintenance across our regional offices. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage and develop a geographically dispersed team.

Job Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of field engineers and technicians, ensuring effective coverage and support for all regional offices.

  • Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and implement best practices, standards, and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

Technical Support and Maintenance:

  • Ensure timely and efficient resolution of technical issues in regional offices, including hardware, software, network, and system problems.

  • Coordinate and manage on-site installations, maintenance, and upgrades of IT infrastructure and equipment.

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of technical support operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Project Management:

  • Plan and oversee technical projects, including office relocations, infrastructure upgrades, and new technology rollouts.

  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to align technical support activities with overall business objectives.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control.

  • Optimize the use of tools, technologies, and resources to enhance service delivery and team productivity.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between regional offices and the central IT department, ensuring clear communication and coordination.

  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on team performance, project status, and technical issues.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and advancements in field engineering.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and the implementation of new technologies to enhance service delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

  • At least 7 years of experience in technical field engineering or a related discipline, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

  • At least 1 year experience in IT infrastructure, networking, and systems support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing and developing teams, with a track record of successful project delivery.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) and IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) are a plus.

  • Master's Degree
