The Senior Manager, Production Engineering is responsible for leading and developing multiple production engineering teams to deliver safe, stable, and cost-effective manufacturing systems across the full product lifecycle.
This role owns manufacturing engineering performance from new model development and launch through mass production, ensuring alignment to organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The position requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to build long-term manufacturing capability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manufacturing Lifecycle Ownership
Lead production engineering activities across:
New product introduction and line design
Equipment specification making, building, validation, and startup
Mass production optimization and stability
Ensure seamless transition from launch to full-scale production
Drive incorporation of lessons learned into future designs and standards
2. Team Leadership and Organizational Development
Lead and develop multiple production engineering managers and teams
Build technical and leadership capability across the organization
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
Drive talent development, succession planning, and capability building
3. Manufacturing System Performance
Own engineering contribution to plant performance and KPI's including:
Safety (incident prevention and compliance)
Quality (defect prevention and process control)
Delivery (uptime, throughput, launch timing)
Cost (labor efficiency, waste reduction, capital efficiency)
Monitor KPIs and drive corrective and preventive actions
4. Process and Equipment Strategy
Define and standardize production engineering processes and methodologies
Drive continuous improvement in:
Process capability (CP/CPK)
Equipment performance (OEE, reliability)
Cycle time, material flow, and automation implementation and optimization
Lead long-term strategy development for equipment localization, capital planning, equipment selection, and ROI justification and long-term competitiveness
5. Cross-Functional Integration
Partner with leaders in all areas and your customers to deliver and meet the plant KPI's:
Manufacturing
Design Engineering
Quality and Supplier Quality
TIE
Maintenance
Ensure alignment across all functions to deliver robust manufacturing systems
6. Problem Solving and Escalation Management
Lead resolution of complex production and launch issues
Drive root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable countermeasures
Ensure rapid escalation and recovery from critical manufacturing disruptions
7. Strategic Planning and Deployment
Develop and execute long-term plans for:
Manufacturing capacity and capability
Workforce and skill development
Technology and automation roadmap
Support business growth through scalable manufacturing system design
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field)
