The Role & Team:
As Associate Director, Acquisition Marketing you will oversee subscriber acquisition strategy and lead the acquisition marketing team. You will create campaigns and leverage a variety of acquisition channels to acquire subscribers, spanning from top of funnel efforts (driving readers and qualified leads) to lower funnel efforts hyper-focused on subscriber conversion and reacquisition. You will deeply understand our target audience - turning data and insights into effective strategies for subscriber acquisition.
This role reports directly to the VP of Growth Marketing and sits on the Subscriptions team. This role will be remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of strategies and campaigns to acquire leads and subscribers; develop the roadmap for experimentation and testing of new channels and strategies.
- Collaborate with the marketing, product, and editorial teams (among other internal and external partners) on acquisition campaigns across various channels (paid media, email marketing, organic, content marketing, events, partnerships, etc.).
- Lead paid media channel strategy, budget allocation, and campaign optimization, in partnership with an external agency, across a variety of channels (SEM, paid social, programmatic, etc.) to drive traffic, leads, app installs, and subscribers.
- Work closely with our analytics team and the VP, Growth Marketing on reporting, forecasting, ROI analysis, and attribution modeling.
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams on the optimization of key conversion points across our web and mobile app platforms.
- Clearly define and communicate strategy, goals, roadmap, and opportunities for growth to agencies and direct reports.
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- Demonstrable knowledge of acquisition marketing, preferably in a subscription-based business, media or tech, leveraging both paid and unpaid acquisition channels (performance marketing, content marketing, social, events, partnerships, SEO).
- Previous experience with paid media strategy and hands-on execution of paid search, paid social, and programmatic ad channels.
- Experience leveraging financial and performance data to measure campaigns against revenue-related goals with Google and Meta ad platforms is required; experience with LinkedIn ads, other paid social channels, app install campaigns, affiliate, or other paid channels is a plus.
- Self starter and excellent relationship builder, able to independently build strong partnerships with internal teams and external agencies, contractors, and vendors.
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights and communicate big-picture vision, while also maintaining high attention to detail.
- Comfort working with both large and modest budgets, with the ability to leverage creative and low-cost or unpaid strategies to acquire new customers.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
