Job Title: Director of Youth Ministries

FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Divisional Youth & Candidates’ Secretary

Rate of Pay: $75000 to $82000 per year

Relocation expenses (Relocation assistances may be available if needed):

• Housing

• cellphone allowance of $100 per month 
• up to $7,000 moving expense

SCOPE OF POSITION/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Director of Youth Ministries Position is responsible for the Youth Program, Candidates and Evangelistic work of the Division.

They will adhere to the standards and Orders and Regulations of The Salvation Army in a manner that is both ethical and economical. The director is expected to be an example of Salvationism and Christian stewardship and to demonstrate interest in the spiritual well-being of the young people of the division.

The Director shall conduct all activities of the office with a view to accomplishing The Salvation Army’s stated mission “to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination”.

The Director of Youth Ministries will give encouragement, support, and resources to all corps, units and institutions in the Division.  This will be accomplished through personal involvement and also through the supervision and coordination of the youth and family programs sections of the division.  Coordination, cooperation, encouragement and support will characterize the service of the Youth Department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Director of Youth Ministries is responsible to promote The Salvation Army’s primary work of soul winning, increased effectiveness of operation, development and expansion of youth and family programs and candidates for the College for Officer’s Training.
• They are expected to be an active soldier of their corps, when out-of-town appointments do not prevent.
• They will participate in corps meetings throughout the Division whenever possible.
• The Director of Youth Ministries will work between members of the Divisional staff and the various departments.
• They shares the responsibility for the spiritual welfare of officers, junior and senior soldiers, for their loyalty to the principles of The Salvation Army and their observance of its Rules and Regulations.
• They will assist the DYS in providing candidate forms and his/her evaluations/opinion of the present ability and future potential of the officers.

SPECIFIC PROGRAM DUTIES:

• Be directly accountable to the DYS for all the Program Sections assigned to the Youth Department.
