Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Chicago. The Senior Accountant will contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the accounting department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in managing GAAP financials, internal controls, consolidation, and writing memos interpreting ASC guidance. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, interpreting technical guidance, and financial analysis.
Financial Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and review of GAAP financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Review and analyze financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Consolidation:
Lead the consolidation process for multiple entities, ensuring the timely and accurate consolidation of financial results.
Prepare consolidated financial statements and related disclosures, including intercompany eliminations and adjustments.
Internal Controls:
Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and enhance the accuracy of financial records.
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and other regulatory standards.
Audit Coordination:
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support for annual audits and quarterly reviews.
Coordinate and manage external and internal audits, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of audit requirements.
Address and resolve audit findings, implementing corrective actions as needed in a timely manner.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Compliance:
Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards, ensuring the company’s practices remain compliant.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function.
Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including experience in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Workday preferred.
