The Zillow Search & Discovery Artificial Intelligence (AI) team leads the development of novel models and experiences that aim to radically simplify the level of effort it takes buyers and renters to find their next home. Our goal is to reinvent home shopping through highly personalized, seamless experiences that are augmented with unique, rich content and insights. We work alongside designers, engineers, scientists, marketers, and researchers to make this happen.

We build upon a foundation of quantitative and qualitative understanding of our users to rapidly test, iterate, and launch customer experiences on the United States’ largest online real estate marketplace. Our team is staffed with talented applied scientists, engineers and product managers, partnering closely with teams across Zillow to deliver a highly tailored, trusted search and discovery experience for millions of customers.

About the role

Are you passionate about using AI to reinvent and radically simplify home shopping? We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to work directly with our Discovery AI team to oversee tailored, proactive discovery experiences for millions of buyers and renters. You will bring strong technical expertise and a comfort working on machine learning-powered products, along with a keen strategic product sense and passion for solving problems with a customer-first approach. Day-to-day, you will oversee the models and experiences driving personalized discovery, helping millions of customers find “the one” through ‘a-ha’ moments powered by a deep understanding of the home and the customer. 

  • Define “big problem” spaces and opportunities for buyers and renters to receive proactive, tailored content and updates that help them efficiently find the one

  • Deliver impact and results by defining success metrics, analyzing data for insights, prioritizing what to build, and coordinating with partner teams to align efforts to business strategies

  • Oversee a cross-functional roadmap spanning investment in customer experience, machine learning models, and infrastructure

  • Partner with internal teams to understand needs and requirements, translate them into concrete plans and priorities, and partner with researchers, designers, applied scientists, and engineering teams to deliver on those plans

  • Communicate and collaborate by articulating the “why” and "what" customer problem to solve, partnering with others, and balancing their point of view with solicited input of others

  • Inform strategy by monitoring competitors, understanding customer needs and technical designs of products to serve them

  • Mobilize your teams to do their best work by providing clear direction, handling dependencies, removing blockers and applying effective operating rhythms

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $143,200.00 - $228,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

This is a high-priority problem space, and the team needs a strategic, innovative, and self-starter PM who has experience with building for scale.

  • 5+ years in a D2C/B2C product management role, with proven ability leading and testing products at scale (millions of customers)

  • Strongly technical sense, with an ability to understand technical problems and solutions, and brings experience deploying modern AI and ML techniques

  • Clearly articulates customer needs, understands designs of features to inform development, and evaluates how the feature is meeting the needs of the customer and the business to make feature decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss business strategy, UX, and technical concepts and manage tradeoffs

  • Effective communicator (written and verbal). Able to communicate effectively with both business and technical teams
