As a Staff Platform Engineer at Rise8, you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of automated infrastructure solutions that enhance the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the platform and its services.
- Define and enforce best practices for platform development, infrastructure management, and operational excellence across teams.
- Architect, build, and optimize multi-cloud environments, with a particular focus on security, compliance (e.g., IL4/CMMC), and performance.
- Develop advanced self-service capabilities within the Platform as a Service (PaaS) to improve the developer experience and streamline software delivery pipelines.
- Take ownership of complex production systems, including incident management, root cause analysis, and driving permanent resolutions to systemic issues.
- Partner with stakeholders to establish technical roadmaps and ensure alignment between platform engineering and business objectives.
- Serve as a mentor to engineers at all levels, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
- Lead technical evaluations and drive the adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to advance platform capabilities.
- Proactively identify and address technical debt and advocate for long-term investments in system health and scalability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation to ensure clarity and continuity.
Qualifications
- A background of 10+ years in cloud/platform operations or related roles across diverse environments
- Expertise in administering Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or equivalent environments
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration at scale, including managing multi-cluster environments
- Expertise inInfrastructure as Code (IAC) tools, with a focus on Terraform
- Subject Matter Expertise in Linux Operating Systems administration
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Advanced understanding of networking principles, including hands-on experience with Load Balancers, DNS, SSL, Firewalls, NAT, NTP, and Zero Trust Architecture
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to balance short-term fixes with long-term solutions
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies, leveraging tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent
