This role is responsible for development of technical reports for cyber and IT assessments, key managerial reports, and program and process documentation. Learn more about VMD culture here: VMD Culture About the Mission You Will Join: The Technical Writer will play a vital role on a contract supporting the government customer's OCIO, compiling written documentation products that ensure the credibility of the organization. This role is responsible for development of technical reports for cyber and IT assessments, key managerial reports, and program and process documentation. The position will closely collaborate with federal stakeholders and contract team members to ensure successful and on time submission of key deliverables. Your Impact to the Mission:
- Provide technical and managerial report writing in government environments to include both unclassified and classified classification domains, up to and including Top Secret Restricted Data information.
- Working collaboratively within a team, compile writing documentation products that ensure the credibility of the organization.
- Describe assessment methodologies, articulate meaningful analysis of technical issues, and develop recommendations in written reports.
- Develop meaningful issue statements along with background and impact statements for assessment reports.
- Provide support to the development of Information Technology (IT), Operational Technology (OT) and cybersecurity program related documentation to include strategy documentation, project status documentation, and continuity planning documentation.
- Demonstrate expert ability to write well organized and coherent document products utilizing IT/OT and cybersecurity concepts and terminology.
- Demonstrate moderate level understanding of technical and program knowledge and experience in IT/OT and cybersecurity.
- Provide document reviews, editing, formatting, and overall quality assurance.
- Ensure all reports and documentation are written clearly, concisely, contextually, consistently, and accurately.
- Ensure attention to writing detail, word use, tone, and look of documentation.
- Monitor document development to ensure minimal use of passive voice, explain jargon, and ensure professionalized (i.e., grammar, spelling, punctuation) documentation product deliverables.
- Use built-in proofing features to develop a professional document product.
- Ensure document conformance to organizational style guidelines.
- Prioritize the documentation writing of concurrent work streams and meet time-oriented deliverables.
- Maintain required certifications in accordance with certification continuing education requirements.
- Take derivative classifier training relevant to cybersecurity and IT.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Possess excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to present complex findings in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to distill technical language to non-technical audiences.
- Proficient with MS Office applications such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Moderate level understanding of IT/OT and cybersecurity.
- Basic understanding of project management processes and terminology.
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree
- Can Additional Years of Experience Substitute for Degree? Yes
- Required Certification(s): Certified in accordance with DoD 8570 IAM Level 1 or DoD 8570 CSSP Analyst or DoD 8570 CSSP Auditor
- Desired Certification(s): Project Management Professional (PMP)
