Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Safety leader with 10 or more years’ experience, 5 of which have been in a leadership capacity to oversee the development, implementation, and management of our Health and Safety program. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of transformative and innovative Health and Safety management, excellent leadership skills, and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management. They will have a record of documented health and safety program improvement accomplishments; transforming programs, and innovative solutions applied to long standing problems.
The Associate Director will play a crucial role in optimizing processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining a safe work environment and served as a catalyst for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and innovation within the team and across the company. This is an office-based role.
Education: Preferred Bachelors degree related to Environment, Health, and Safety (i.e., engineering, physical, environmental or life science) or Bachelors degree relevant to applicable EHS field or 5 years of relevant experience in the applicable EHS field.
Experience: Typically 5 to 7 years of relevant Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience and/or EHS related professional certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- 10 years of experience in Health and Safety (H&S)
- Proven experience in H&S Management with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Certified Safety Professional or other Professional Safety Certification (i.e., CIH) desired
- Demonstrated experience in H&S programs requirements, including, but not limited to, accident investigation, powered industrial trucks, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, hearing conservation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and life safety.
- Proven leadership skills with consistent and clear expectations messaged to direct reports and project stakeholders
- Strategic and transformative approach to health and safety program leadership
- Proven skill and ability to communicate safety program to senior Company leadership
- Comfortable and effective speaking and presenting to project Owners, regulatory agencies and internal senior leadership
- Record of reducing injuries, incidents and worker’s compensation costs.
- Experience with implementing behavior-based safety programs and strategies
- Expert and proven skill to identify onsite safety risks and develop innovative and compliant mitigation strategies within safety program and agency requirement standards
- Expert knowledge of regulatory compliance, industry trends and upcoming agency regulations that might impact Company and project production
- Adept at implementing process improvements and constantly seeking innovative ways to enhance HS performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Leadership style is dynamic and growth-minded, inspiring a team to embrace change, adapt to evolving industry standards, and continuously improve.
- Adept at creating a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to contribute ideas and take ownership of their responsibilities.
- ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 experience
Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, organization and evaluation of occupational health and safety program
- Oversees safety program and procedures
- Develops companywide health and safety procedures and practices
- Implements safety initiatives that are aligned to Company core Health and Safety program
- Reviews health and safety trend analysis to ensure accurate tracking of accidents, injuries, property damage and other safety related incidents are recorded
- Oversees the creation and implementation of all safety orientations, trainings and oversees site toolbox talks for all staff within designated timeframe
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction
- Provides technical expertise to health and safety issues, as needed
- Reviews project status and trend analysis reports to present at quarterly business unit meetings
- Oversees injury reporting
- Reviews investigation documentation and corrective action plans to ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented
