Job purpose
The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
This position will provide quality engineering support to the assigned production operations to ensure the integrity of components and products produced by those operations and to aggressively drive quality improvement efforts with the goal of achieving “zero defect” performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan work and determine all necessary actions and tools to complete task.
- Provide expert analysis, guidance and support to production-in-process improvement initiatives.
- Support qualification of New Product Introductions and Verification of changes to current product.
- Apply knowledge of inspection equipment and techniques to provide timely data usable for informed decision-making.
- Investigate, contain and resolve quality issues in a proactive manner, including gathering data at customer locations, sharing information & data with plant in order to accurately assess situation & next steps.
- Utilize analytical skill sets to implement root cause analysis and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Utilize effective quality tools such as APQP and PPAP to support customers in new product introduction and upgrades/corrective actions to present products.
- Conduct capability studies and accurately interpret and communicate results to appropriate personnel.
- Support the release of machines and processes.
- Maintain targets relative to machine capability, manufacturing scrap and the continuous improvement of such.
- Develop metrics to promote customer satisfaction and management reviews.
- Set priorities relative to the business plan, maintain focus on what is important and drive for results.
- Participate as an effective team player in support of continuous process improvement.
- Maintain confidential information.
- Perform GRR activities on production gages and balancers.
- Effectively utilize measurement system analysis (gage R &R, linearity, etc.) to provide recommendations on measurement equipment
- Conducts process audits and supports control plan activities by reporting key characteristics.
- Support PFMEA by participating and contributing input.
- Travel to customer facilities to perform analysis, containment, and/or rework activity.
- Develop and update Quality Systems documentation such as Control Plans, Quality Alerts, Work Instructions, and Deviations.
