Clinical Medical Assistant - Certified

Location: Gaston Medical Associates, PAPosition: Clinical Medical Assistant - Certified

Responsibilities:

• Provide prompt, kind and efficient patient care.
• Prepare exam rooms, keeping them clean and supplied.
• Pre-visit planning of all patients coming in next day.
• Obtain patient vital signs, history, and reason for visit, order the appropriate test and labs.
• Document information and any other required data in the patient’s chart.
• Assists with patient care: giving injections, performing EKGs, collecting urine samples or specimens/swabs, performing CLIA waived tests, handling prescription refills, assisting providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures/testing and minor surgeries.
• Track all necessary quality controls such as refrigerator temperatures, equipment controls, CLIA waived test controls.
• Use of autoclave to sterilize instruments and routine cleaning of autoclave.
• Orders supplies as needed working with the office manager.
• Educate patients, giving hand outs as needed and being a patient advocate.
• Possess knowledge of care terms for coordination of patient care, self-management and able to prioritize duties.
• Calling patients monthly if they have chronic conditions that make them high risk in hopes to avoid hospitalizations.
• Perform other duties as requested.
