Job Description
The Design & Technical Services Department (D&TS) is looking for an Architect or Interior Design Senior Manager to join the team. You will be based in Madrid and report to the VP D&TS UK, Netherlands, Spain & Portugal.
The successful candidate will collaborate with owner’s team (architects and interior designers mainly) by briefing them, providing interior design support, making sure that the proposed design is in line with Accor standards and appropriate in relation to budget and working well from operational point of view.
You will deal with a large number of Hotels within economy, midscale and potentially premium brands
The key to success in this role is establishing successful relationships with other departments within the company and with owner’s team. You will deal with a large number of Hotels within economy, midscale and potentially premium brands You must be able to manage up to 10-15 projects at the same time in different stages. With this in mind, you have to be adaptable in your management style and be capable of communicating with people with a variety of backgrounds and skill levels.
WHAT DOES THE ROLE CONSIST OF?
The main missions are:
- Prepare briefing documents for Consultants on new projects. Review and comment on consultants’ designs in terms of brand alignment, appropriateness in design, budget and operational issues.
- Review and give guidance for final layout plan, detailed drawings, interior design & FF&E specifications ensuring that it meets all client / technical, operational requirements and brand alignment. This involves composing written recommendations, report and minutes for clients and internal teams (such a sample room reports).
- Ensure designs and general layouts achieve high consistency and excellent quality in every opportunity.
- Work closely with owner’s team providing general support and guidance, effective design management of processes and implement initiatives to help guide projects.
- General knowledge of accessibility, building codes and technical requirements as it relates to hospitality architecture and design (UK and ideally Spain).
- Communicate regularly to leadership and the project team with updates such as the status of each project, upcoming benchmark goals, potential issues etc.
- Present monthly to internal committee panel for final design approval.
- Keep up to date on all Accor brand standards, technological innovations, best in class design and competitor activity.
- Attend site meetings when necessary in the UK, Netherlands, Spain or Porgutal normally for initial workshops, sample room visit, follow up and final review before opening.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Ability too effectively handle multiple projects. This role involves a broad range of tasks, which run concurrently.
Qualifications
About you:
- Master’s in marketing or business
- Experience in Marketing
- Fluent in Spanish and English- eliminatory factor , Italian or Portuguese would be a plus.
- Be creative, proactive and be able to generate original ideas.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas both verbally, in writing and graphically.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that build trust and instill confidence in order to motivate and influence others
- Facilitate a collegial and collaborative professional working relationship between the Accor teams.
- Interior design degree or architectural qualifications
- 8+ years’ interior design and project management experience in a mix of economy/midscale and ideally premium hospitality projects. Experience of this within a multinational hospitality company is desirable.
- Minimum 3 years managing client relationships including participation in client meetings throughout the design and construction process.
- Experience in hospitality, ideally in economy, midscale and premium brands
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in numerous design phases: Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Permitting and Construction Documentation.
- Passionate about becoming best in class design.
- You must be fluent in English and Spanish language ideal
