Job Description

Salary: up to $55,000.00 based on education and experience.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday
Primary Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Position Description:
This position serves as a project coordinator for the Child Passenger Safety (CPS) program within the Injury Prevention Service, which primarily involves performing duties as a Certified CPS Technician and Instructor. In addition to regular installations of car seats and booster seats, the position is responsible for capacity building, collaboration with state and community stakeholders, consultation, technical assistance, inventory tracking and management, CPS education, grant reporting, and information dissemination.
Duties:
Maintain continuous certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician and a Child Passenger Safety Instructor through Safe Kids Worldwide. (Must become a certified instructor upon hire if not already certified.)
Administer the statewide Child Passenger Safety Installation and Education Program.
Install and check car seats and booster seats by appointment and participate in seat check events held locally and at various county health department locations.
Coordinate car/booster seat orders, verify delivery to county health department sites, track inventory, and approve invoices for payment.
Effectively interact with certified technicians at participating county health departments to regularly collect information on their needs for seats and educational materials and to provide technical assistance and subject matter expertise.
Collect and report numbers of installations and seat checks and prepare grant progress reports.
Teach CPS courses to a variety of professional and lay audiences, including one-day basic training courses and multi-day certification classes.
Disseminate information on CPS best practices and other motor vehicle safety strategies; develop and deliver public presentations; and conduct media interviews.
Maintain a list of certified technicians at county health departments and provide orientation and assistance to new technicians and county sites on program guidelines and requirements.
