What we need:
Under the direction of residential quality, works closely with raw materials, finished goods, manufacturing processes, and production personnel to identify quality issues and areas for improvement. Assists management in analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions to maintain and upgrade product quality. Under nominal direction, job duties are performed within general policies or specified objectives within the area of specialty.
What you'll do:
- Performs inspections of materials to ensure uniformity and early problem detection. Assists in identifying quality nonconformance and assesses the need for internal corrective action. Assists junior team members in determining the quality level of questionable materials. Reviews orders, equipment, or daily production in regards to quality issues that may impact production and related processes.
- Communicates to management and appropriate manufacturing personnel the results of product testing in a timely manner to ensure a high degree of product quality and integrity. May assist with providing quality related training and coaching to manufacturing personnel workers.
- Compiles data and generates reports to monitor performance of the production line, assisting management in analyzing root causes of quality problems. May assist customer service or claims department in researching and resolving quality issues.
- Assists management in determining the ultimate use or disposition of non-conforming material with the goal of maximizing use and profitability while minimizing the amount of off-quality materials and waste.
- Investigates OQ excursions to determine root cause and perform damage control to minimize financial loss
- Works closely with plant management to complete special projects as needed to support quality objectives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Manages the cabling and heatset database for all yarn conversion operations.
- Manages the tpr database. Drives all broadloom yarn trials into finished carpet working with planning and tuft/dye/coat operations. Once complete, purges all finished goods from inventory (via special goods or running line).
- Manages the yarn sample order database. Once yarn trials have been tested, purges all sample lbs from inventory.
- Works nights/weekends as needed to address concerns in tufting and dyeing.
- Performs other duties as required.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible job specific work experience within the functional area. OR an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Knowledge of Company brands and product information required to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Knowledge of commonly used quality assurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
What you’re good at:
- Ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
- Must have basic knowledge of internally extruded polymer types (PA, PET, PTT).
- Must be an effective team member.
- Strong oral, written, presentation, interpersonal communication, and team facilitation skills to effectively interact with all levels of employees including senior management and internal and external customers.
- Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Basic knowledge of CAMS, ASC SEQUEL, Infinity, and Minitab.
- Able to build more advanced Excel spreadsheets using pivot tables, vlookup, etc.
- Proficient using a PC and other department specific software, hardware, systems, and equipment.

Work environment usually includes hazardous conditions caused by noise, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and other conditions associated with a high traffic production floor. Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time. May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, or occasional lifting.
