The Program Director will provide strategic management for CENTER - effectuate CENTER’s programmatic work, conferences, and special events and assist with external relations and advancement and fundraising efforts. The incumbent will coordinate student-led programs, including student support for research. The Program Director is primarily charged with supporting the CENTER’s mission by managing and executing work streams led by the Faculty Directors and coordinating projects and events for the organization. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with outreach with organizations, non-profits, think tanks, and Georgetown University Departments as necessary to advance CENTER’s programmatic work, helping to position it as a prominent thought leader amongst Washington DC’s think tanks and multilateral institutions in the trade and development arena.

  • Coordinate the administration of CENTER events, programs, policies, and procedures, assisting with the department's financial and budgetary transactions, fundraising, office management, event and communications initiatives, including its social media presence.

  • Communicate with CENTER Advisory Council and Faculty affiliates, experts and partners, global/transnational faculty, colleagues at the Law and main campus, current and prospective students, universities, and other academic and research organizations around the world.

  • Effectuate CENTER roundtables, conferences, and special events, assisting with external relations and advancement efforts.

Work Interactions

The Program Director reports to the Faculty Directors and will also coordinate with IIEL and other university staff involved with Centers & Institutes. The Program Director will supervise the Program Manager. This position will promote and execute CENTER programs on campus and elsewhere, fulfilling a critical operational need, given that administrative and programmatic support is critical to the smooth functioning of all CENTER programs and activities

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, and 5-7 years of experience, each year of work experience may be substituted for each year of education

  • A strong interest in the U.S. Constitution and constitutional theory

  • The ability to develop new program ideas and engage analytically and critically with CENTER’s areas of research and programming

  • A strong ability to work collaboratively on a team

  • Highly developed writing skills and ability to synthesize disparate information into carefully crafted written work product

  • Attention to detail with experience in program management and events management (virtual, in person, and hybrid)

  • Effective team player with strong problem-solving, leadership and motivational skills

  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal, social media, website postings)

  • Ability and flexibility to work mornings and evenings as needed for events
