Bioscience Incubator Lab Maintenance Technician (Hourly)

Job Description Summary:

With supervision, will perform general duties and/or research functions for the purpose of developing a working knowledge of a specific area of study.

To maintain clean, safe, and orderly laboratory facilities at the ACC Bioscience Incubator (ABI).  Assist ABI staff in maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation. Aid in developing processes to ensure long-term function of equipment and laboratories.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists in the day-to-day activities and services of the ABI labs including maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.

• Maintains proper lab documentation which includes w Assists in developing and enforcing health and safety protocols for the ABI.

• Installs, configures and/or calibrates new equipment; develops and conducts the preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment throughout the facility, performs routine maintenance and repair; arranges for repair as needed.

Knowledge

Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

• Familiarity with standard laboratory practices.

• Knowledge of lab safety protocol and procedures including storage of chemicals.

• Working knowledge of common biotechnology/life science equipment including maintenance.
