Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
- Drive CI/CD style infrastructure/security for the HW management and daily performance tools related operations.
- Bring in agile methodologies to infrastructure operations and code development
- Stay current on emerging security technologies, vulnerabilities, risks , and trends and implement best security practices and optimization
- Manage/Develop a team (4-6 engineers) of DevOps engineers with a passion for building the best security and operational experience for our performance tools
- Develop formal team processes, metrics, and drive adoption
- Set and meet quarterly goals (and OKRs) with the team
- Coordinate, monitor, and report on key results for the team
- Identify, communicate, and recommend best practices for DevOps operations and HW management.
- Collaborate with team on day-to-day activities, prioritize, and drive to deadlines.
- Work closely with product management, design, support, development, and other teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Be comfortable and use critical thinking to solve ambiguous problems
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, we need someone who has:
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps specific activities viz. build & deploy system
- 3+ years of experience managing teams of engineers and/or DevOps
- Experience with large scale web-based applications and Linux production environments running MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Proven Linux skills: including system administration, script development, file system management, searching/finding files
- Expertise with infrastructure and platform operations, deployments, SRE, and DevOps
- Strong experience coding reliability and operational services in Python, Shell, Go
- Experience operating high-traffic workloads on distributed systems (preferably powered by Java)
- Can drive architectural discussions and influence technical decisions to streamline and simplify our infrastructure.
- Will participate in compliance audits and ensure we are proactively meeting controls
- Is comfortable with public cloud infrastructure technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon EC2
- Has a working understanding of related infrastructure concepts such as IP networking, block and file storage, load balancers, etc.
- Has a working understanding of related internet protocols such as DNS, LDAP, NTP, SMTP, HTTP, etc.
- Is an excellent oral and written communicator
- Ability and passion to coach and mentor junior members of the team
- Has integrity, and honesty and can uphold ServiceNow’s values
It would be nice if you had…
- Working experience with container technologies.
- Working experience with network technologies
- Knowledge of JVM is a huge plus.
- Background in performance engineering is a plus
