JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
The Computer Scientist IV -- Programming Focus will lead the migration of existing analysis tools from a legacy data paradigm to a cloud-based environment.
What You Will Do With JT4
The Computer Scientist IV -- Programming Focus will lead the migration of existing analysis tools from a legacy data paradigm to a cloud-based environment, ensuring functional parity with the original tools. Collaborate with Discipline Engineers to develop innovative analysis capabilities utilizing modern computing practices within the cloud. Collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Processing Engineers to define and implement suitable data structures in the cloud, and partner with Machine Learning/AI Engineers to develop new analysis capabilities and models that leverage the cloud environment.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Python, Matlab, C#, HTML, SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Machine Learning methods beyond the use of Large Language Models
- Migrate existing/legacy analysis tools that utilize the current data paradigm into tools that leverage the capabilities and data structures of a cloud environment
- Validate that migrated tools have the same/similar functionality as legacy tools
- Assist Engineers with creating new analysis capabilities that leverage the cloud environment and modern computing practices
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Processing Engineers, and Machine Learning/AI Engineers to define and implement appropriate data structures in the cloud environment
- Use broad judgment in defining and solving technical or managerial issues of the highest complexity or of far-reaching significance
- Capture and manage customer requirements at a system level, and develop & analyze the most appropriate approach to solve complex technical problems
- Function as the System Architect, overseeing the overall design and configuration management of systems
- Develop & implement design through software coding or hardware, document the design implementation, and prepare & conduct design reviews
- Manage maintenance & sustainment activities of the system/software, plan and execute unit, integration, and system testing
- Perform other job-related duties, as required.
Additional Strengths
- A deep expertise in cloud computing environments, a demonstrated ability to effectively manipulate time-series data, and fluency across multiple programming languages and structures, with expert programming skills in the above-mentioned languages
- Establish and maintain positive customer relations, support the pursuit of new business efforts, lead proposal efforts, and act as a technical consultant
- Manage software/system projects and provide guidance to technical staff
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
One of the following educational requirements must be met for this position:
- A bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of eight years of related experience
- A master's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of six years of experience
- A PhD in an associated discipline and a minimum of four years of experience
Additional requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of systems engineering and software development lifecycles
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Good planning/organizational skills
- Candidate must possess a valid, state issued driver's lic
