About the role
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CUO and Business Heads to define and Drive Underwriting strategy for North America Casualty with a focus on being common as possible but different as necessary.
- Facilitate the UW authority, UW guidelines and referral process for the assigned Portfolio. Develop and deliver underwriting guidelines within the framework of risk appetite, underwriting appetite, limits management and emerging risks.
- Represent AIG CUO as a Product Expert offering internal training and speaking externally on Casualty topics. Internal training will be based on close collaboration with Risk Engineering, claims, actuarial and the Underwriting University and external speaking will be done in collaboration with our CBE/Client Broker Engagement teams.
- Support the businesses to translate UW strategy into measurable actions.
- Foster and drive the execution of underwriting excellence throughout AIG and in the marketplace.
- Thoroughly and quantitatively analyze the performance of Casualty portfolios. Identify / assess emerging trends and feed insights to strategy setting. Support leadership in analytically modeling changes to strategy, products and "pro-forma" views of the book.
- Detailed monitoring standards / quality reviews to assess loss ratios and underwriting results.
- Establish strong relationships with CUO colleague in both International and North America to define mutual understanding of topics and to drive effective execution of business model.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 15 years of insurance leadership experience, including referral underwriting experience.
- Previous P&L ownership experience.
- Fluent in English as well as one additional Asian or European language is a plus.
- Proven strategic leadership skills in developing vision, purpose and driving for results.
- An understanding of end-to-end underwriting processes and how to construct these processes to improve profitability, data capture, efficiency, and compliance.
- Detailed understanding of casualty actuarial and portfolio management tools.
- Expert technical underwriting background with experience in International Casualty.
- Intimate knowledge of policy forms and endorsements.
- Skilled leader of change; versatile, client focused, results oriented.
- Demonstrated business savvy, analytical, and quantitative skills.

For positions based in New York City, the base salary range is $189,000-$235,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
