Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We are searching for Vehicle Operations Instructors, based in Texas, who will help change the commercial trucking industry by training a diverse and effective curriculum through the Vehicle Operations Training Program.  

In this role, you will

  • Teach a team of Operations specialists to safely and effectively operate Aurora’s technology.
  • Work primarily out of Aurora’s terminal network, throughout Texas. 
  • Facilitate Aurora’s new hire training programs, across several locations, both in-vehicle and in classroom.
  • Update and maintain curriculum, content, and documentation as needed
  • Provide verbal and written feedback to help trainees develop the required skills to safely and effectively execute their job function
  • Execute operator post-training checks , to measure knowledge retention
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora to help drive progress on Aurora’s mission
  • Work in an autonomous truck or passenger vehicle, 25-50% of the time
  • Maintain deep understanding of the Aurora Driver, Aurora’s AV platforms, and all operational policies and procedures
  • Understand and follow all applicable compliance regulations
  • Follow all Aurora policies and adhere to the Vehicle Operations Manual
  • Play an integral role in developing team culture and represent Aurora as an ambassador of company values and mission

 Required Qualifications 

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record, validated by MVR check
  • Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, to lead by example, and to motivate teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to adjust for audience, and present complex ideas with clarity
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Computer proficiency - typing, navigating, utilizing business applications 
  • Ability to travel across or out of state, for up to 3 weeks at a time 
  • Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime, as needed
  • Flexibility to work from various locations as needed
  • Is at least 21 years of age

 Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle technology operations
  • Experience in trucking, transportation, and/or logistics
  • ≥2 years experience teaching or training in an educational setting
  • ≥2 years experience developing educational curriculum
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new software applications and processes in an ever changing environment
  • Ability to independently teach and instruct new hires with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management 
  • Experience with Jira, G-Suite, Command Line Interface, Slack
  • Experience with DOT, FMCSA, EH&S, and/or OSHA regulations

 

The base hourly wage range for this position is $27.00-$38.75 per hour.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
