Diagnostic Medical Sonographers use imaging devices that emit sound waves to create images that will help physicians assess and diagnose various conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for flexibility and increased work/life balance while maintaining their license and/or registration. Our Weekender Flex Program allows caregivers to work 48 hours per pay period with weekend shift options. The caregiver in this role will have a part-time status and be eligible for part-time benefits/PTO, but will be eligible for full-time tuition reimbursement benefits. A caregiver in this position works weekend days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages.  

• Perform ultrasound studies (i.e. obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric and vascular). 

• Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis. 

• Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam. 

• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. 

• Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. 

• Assist with scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures. 

• Monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations. 

• Perform preliminary research on patients when preparations are not provided and determine priority of patients based on the daily schedules. 

• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. 

• Complete after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. 

• Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. 

• Process billing via RIS.  

• Ensure proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
