Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is not available for a Hybrid Telework workweek
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides consultation, resources, and support to teachers, caregivers, providers, and parents for preschool and public-school kindergarten aged children referred due to concerns about their emotional, social, and/or learning development in support of implementing appropriate strategies in the child’s natural environment. Designs and delivers professional development, parent education, and other training programs for teachers, providers, parents, and other professionals serving preschool and kindergarten students in Wake County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Extensive knowledge of early childhood programs and child development practices;
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
- Data management and record keeping skills;
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication
- techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;
- Ability to design and deliver professional development;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students,
- young children, parents, external agencies, community groups, and the public.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in education, counseling, or related field;
- Five years of experience in teaching and/or providing intervention services to young children, their families, and their childcare providers.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license with licensure in birth-kindergarten, elementary education, school counseling, or as a school social worker;
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university;
- Three years of experience working with graphic design;
- Two years of experience working with preschool aged children;
- Knowledge of current technologies and emerging technologies in the area of graphic design;
- Knowledge of current design trends;
- Bilingual.
