POSITION SUMMARY: The Fund Development Assistant provides essential support to the Fund Development department, ensuring the efficient tracking and processing of donations, donor communications, special event planning, grant administration, and other administrative tasks. This role is integral to maintaining donor relations and supporting fundraising initiatives to advance the mission of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage and maintain donor databases, process donations, generate receipts, and prepare acknowledgment letters.
- Assist in drafting and distributing donor correspondence, newsletters, and impact reports. Respond to donor inquiries and maintain positive relationships.
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, including logistics, vendor coordination, registration, and follow-up communications.
- Assist with tracking grant deadlines, organizing required documentation, and supporting the submission process.
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, maintaining department files, and coordinating mailings.
- Assist in tracking fundraising goals, preparing financial reports, and reconciling donor contributions with the finance department.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support fundraising efforts and organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit administration, business, communications, or a related field.
- Prior experience in fundraising, donor relations, or administrative support preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and donor database management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Pulse, Daxko, or similar).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standard office environment with occasional evening or weekend work required for special events.
- Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must have high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
- Sedentary work environment with extended periods of computer use, requiring strong attention to detail and focus. Occasional movement and breaks from the desk may be necessary to promote ergonomic health.<
