Role and Responsibilities: 

HKA Global, LLC seeks a Director, Geotechnical Engineering in Los Angeles, CA to: 

    • Manage engineering activities and projects to ensure compliance with engineering standards and completion of large-scale construction projects, including creating budget, evaluating project schedules and contemporaneous project records to determine cause, effect, and liability for construction delays.
    • Formulate, lead, and deliver multiple complex engineering projects and assignments.
    • Lead multiple commissions and ensure delivery meets HKA and engineering standards.
    • Oversee and manage commission commercial, quality, and client satisfaction outcomes.
    • Assist, manage, and develop client relationships for assigned construction projects.
    • Prepare bid and project proposal documents to HKA standards, interact with clients, ensure quality of work, attend professional networking events, write articles, and conduct technical interviews.
    • Execute and manage assigned commission responsibilities including financial, management of client expectations, and delivery.
    • Serve and undertake all duties as testifying expert in a wide field on sophisticated matters as Project Director.
    • Responsible for generation of new business initiatives at a local, national, and regional level.
    • Draft and respond to non-complex inquiries.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related plus fifteen (15) years of experience in the engineering or construction industry. 
  • Of the 15 years of experience required, at least five (5) years of experience is required in the following: 
    • people management, including commercial/construction team management. 
    • consultancy fee earning work, including identification of new work and development of existing work. 
    • forensic delay analysis techniques – geotechnical investigation programs, laboratory testing programs, technical report writing, CAD drafting and design, and analysis using common software for slope stability, foundation design, settlement, retaining walls, shoring/underground works, and seepage. 
    • making recommendations based on functionality, physical requirements, regulatory codes, environmental rules and regulations, safety issues, and other construction-related factors.
  • Domestic and international business travels to various clients' locations or conference locations: 10-15%.


Annual Salary Offered: USD $215,030

Hybrid role requiring minimum of two (2) days in the Los Angeles office per month.
