Major Responsibilities: Assume duties and responsibilities of a staff technologist as required by Charge Technologist and/or Manager of Diagnostic Imaging Center. Provides clinical education and supervision to radiologic technology students designed to meet established course work criteria. 1)Monitor student program; assist students with clinical problems; perform student evaluations; prepare records/documentation of student activities/clinical proficiency 2)Counsel students; aware of privacy and confidentiality issues; availability to students at odd hours when necessary 3)Enrollment of students; set-up appointments, answer questions, tour of facility; knowledge of facility and its offerings; design interview questions, admissions committee; participate in jury for inquiries; review rules of admission 4)Promotion of profession; design approach to high school students; incorporate technologists with tours; exclusive tours to perspective college students; telephone conversations 5)Conduct clinical proficiency exams on each student for each clinical module 6)Conduct class and provide instruction according to established lesson plans 7)Respond to student/staff questions and/or problems Continuing Education. 1)Liason for continuing education for all Radiologic Technologists. 2)Resource for staff for IEMA and ARRT requirements 3)Licensure records keeper; update licensure showcase and binder, provide current chart to leadership 4)Record keeper for mandatory requirements 5)Correspondence with other Advocate Educators 6)Participation with Advocate School Relationship Committee Prepares student assignments that conform to educational principles and curriculum. 1)Must be able to speak publicly and address subject matter appropriately 2)Prepare student weekly room rotations according to student’s curriculum 3)Develop/document learning objectives for each diagnostic rotation 4)Prepare class schedules and room assignments according to program design and syllabus 5)Research, develop and format tests and quizzes 6)Familiarization with College of DuPage and Good Samaritan Hospital rules for student documentation 7)Monitor attendance, evaluation and grades 8)Follow through with disciplinary measures needed for these issues Meets bi-quarterly with college program faculty to review program design, student progress, records, reports, evaluations and grades. 1)Administers quarterly comprehensive written and proficiency exams as dictated by curriculum 2)Completes bi-quarterly affective evaluation and quarterly grading forms for each student 3)Maintain student records and clinical logs 4)Complete and compute student grades 5)Attend quarterly staff meetings and annual new student orientation at the program facility Education/Experience Required: - Minimum 3 years experience as Radiologic Technologist II or above - BS degree preferred - Familiar with all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology - Must be able to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: - Radiologic Technologist II or above - Strong oral and written communication skills - Demonstrated teaching ability - ARRT Registered - IEMA License - CPR Certification - Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: - Active in professional societies ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: - Light travel required - Work schedule hours must be flexible for after hours - Ideal candidate must be a highly skilled technologist with recent experience in advanced imaging techniques If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
