Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Strategic Initiatives reports to the VP, Strategic Initiatives and Planning Leader and is part of the Synchrony’s Collections & Recovery Strategy team within the Credit function. This role will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific projects and ensuring the projects are completed on time, on budget, and within scope. This involves providing escalations with proposed resolutions and updates to management, resolving conflicts, leading testing efforts, and ensuring required documentation is created and stored appropriately. This role will include project management office (PMO) responsibilities including prioritization, use of organizational and lifecycle management tools, workflows, and business continuity. This position requires significant collaboration with Collection & Recovery Strategy, Collections & Recovery Operations, Recovery Forecasting, Recovery Systems Solutions, the Growth organization, IT Agile teams and second line of defense teams (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Fair Lending).

Essential responsibilities:
Own and drive implementation of Collection and Recovery strategy projects and capabilities (e.g. projects led or co-led by Strategy). Includes providing program and project management, including planning, managing and executing all business owned tasks (ex, stakeholder analysis, RACI, scope & benefits, team dynamics, project plans, business requirements (waterfall / agile), IT & Architectural reviews, testing, release planning, documentation, and communication).
Responsible for assisting Collections & Recovery Strategy team with prioritization, organization, agile methodologies and processes, lifecycle management and simplification tools/processes. Will help develop and manage end-to-end change management system.
Serves as liaison between Collections & Recovery Strategy team, IT and 3rd party vendors: coordinating data exchange, prioritization, and implementation planning.
Provide organizational support for the entire Collections & Recovery Strategy team (e.g., developing executive presentations, planning monthly town halls, owning or coordinating business continuity and records inventory management (RIM) deliverables).
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years in consumer credit / collections, or in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 6+ years in consumer credit / collections
3+ years of formal or informal project management experience
Desired Characteristics:
Project leadership experience and experience using project management tools
Agile Product Owner / Scrum Master Certification or Scaled Agile training
Familiarity with Credit and/or Collections strategies, policies and procedures
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong issue management experience
Experience leading organizational change
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint applications
Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
