Job Description

Visa is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Sr. Director of Cloud Security Engineering to lead cloud security initiatives and drive the integration of cybersecurity practices across our hybrid cloud infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for ensuring a strong cloud security posture, reducing attack surfaces, and leading efforts to safeguard assets deployed across our data centers and public clouds. The Sr. Director will play a critical role in integrating cybersecurity functions across acquired entities and collaborating with various teams to establish seamless, secure operations within the cloud environment.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Strategy & Architecture:

    • Lead the cloud engineering team in designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient cloud architecture.

    • Define and implement cloud security standards, frameworks, and best practices across cloud platforms.

  • Cloud Security Leadership:

    • Ensure a robust cloud security posture for Visa’s hybrid cloud infrastructure.

    • Lead initiatives focused on reducing the attack surface of cloud assets and deploying security best practices.

    • Implement proactive measures to identify, assess, and mitigate cloud security risks.

    • Ensure the cloud security posture of acquired entities aligns with Visa's hybrid cloud model.

    • Drive continuous improvements in cloud incident management, threat detection, and response capabilities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate closely with the Operations, Corporate IT, Legal, Risk, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure the integration of cybersecurity practices into the processes and workflows of acquired entities.

    • Work across functions to design, deploy, and enforce cloud security policies and procedures that meet regulatory and internal security requirements.

  • Innovation & Risk Management:

    • Drive innovation in cloud security technologies and techniques to protect Visa’s infrastructure from evolving cyber threats.

    • Provide strategic direction on risk management, focusing on ensuring business continuity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

  • People Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing cloud engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and security excellence.

    • Work to build strong cross-functional relationships with both technical and non-technical teams across the organization.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
•12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 15+ years of
relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
•15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of
experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with
9+ years of experience
•At least 8 years in a leadership role.
•Proven expertise in cloud security and risk management, with hands-on
experience in deploying and managing secure cloud infrastructure.
•Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), data
center operations, and security controls.
•Experience with integrating cybersecurity and incident response practices in
the context of acquired entities.
•Deep understanding of compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, SOC 2,
CCPA) and experience in navigating regulatory frameworks.
•Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to influence and
collaborate across teams and departments.
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical
concepts into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.
•Demonstrated experience managing large-scale cloud environments and
complex, cross-functional security initiatives.
