About the Role

 

As the Head of Insurance, North America within the Financial Institutions Group, you are accountable for leading the North American Insurance franchise and delivering sustainable, risk adjusted growth across a strategically important client portfolio.

 

You will set and execute the North American Insurance strategy, originate and deliver complex, cross border and multi product solutions, and ensure the effective stewardship of client relationships, risk, and people. As a senior leader within FIG North America, the role acts as a visible representative of ANZ to key North American financial institutions and an internal integrator across product, risk and regional teams.

What will your day look like?

 

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:      

 

• Own end to end financial performance of the Insurance portfolio, including revenue growth, portfolio returns (Rev/RWA, ZCEP).
• Drive sustainable growth through cross divisional, cross border and multi product client opportunities.
• Maintain senior level ownership of key North American Insurance clients, acting as a trusted advisor to client executive management.
• Lead origination of multi product and multi-geography transactions across Markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate Finance.
• Champion innovation in client solutions while ensuring alignment with product capability and risk appetite.
• Provide executive oversight of deal execution, portfolio management and credit decisions, working closely with Credit Risk, Market Risk, Legal, Treasury and Compliance.
• Ensure robust adherence to credit policies, regulatory requirements and responsible lending standards across the Insurance portfolio.
• Proactively identify emerging portfolio risks, regulatory developments and thematic issues impacting North American Insurers.
• Lead and develop bankers within the North American Insurance team, fostering a high performance and inclusive culture
• Represent ANZ and FIG internally and externally, building strong partnerships with regional and global stakeholders.
• Set the tone for disciplined execution, collaboration and accountability across the Global Insurance franchise.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will bring the following:

 

• Extensive experience leading relationship banking teams covering Banks and/or diversified financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of North American banking markets, regulatory environments and institutional client needs.
• Proven track record of originating and executing complex, cross border and multi product banking solutions.
• Strong commercial judgement combined with disciplined credit and risk management capability.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within a matrixed, international banking environment.
• Prior accountability for regional portfolio or franchise leadership is a plus.
• Experience working within global FIG or wholesale banking platforms.
• Exposure to public sector, central banks or quasi sovereign financial institutions.
